Shoutout to Sickboy Podcast!

My kitchen has been plenty busy, so I should apologize for not posting in two weeks. But instead, I would like to direct your attention to my all-time-favorite podcast: Sickboy Podcast.

I have been listening long enough that I actually can't remember where I first heard of them sometime in 2015. My husband was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, so it is possible I came across it from social media connections with his family members. Or it could have been mentioned in any number of posts I have read through other media related to my goal career: genetic counseling.

Anyone who would like to hear more about how real people live with chronic disease, mental illness, or severe health events, this is the podcast for you! Hosts Jeremie, Taylor, and Brian will ask the questions you have always wondered about, make jokes that will have you laughing so hard you have to back up to hear what you missed, but also really dive into what living with a health condition is like. There are impacts that most listeners cannot imagine and it is eye opening to hear from those with health challenges.

Before you put your first episode on in the car with your three year old (my brother dearest): most episodes are NSFW - body humor, cussing, and human sexuality are daily life and these guys do not shy away from anything!

Listen to Sickboy on your favorite podcast platform. Please rate and review on iTunes if that happens to be your platform, and enjoy learning from others!

Just below will make more sense after you have listened to a few episodes.
Question: What has Sickboy taken away from you?
My Answer: Some fear and intimidation of discussing health conditions. Now, I may not have the courage still to initiate conversations, but I hope I am able to present a non-judgmental ear to others and continue to strive for comfortable conversation.

Question: What has Sickboy given you?
My Answer: Inspiration that these are the stories that every single person out there needs to hear, and especially healthcare providers. Hopefully I can spread the word to a few folk in the genetic counseling field even before I earn my Master's in Genetic Counseling.

Before posting this, I put my money where my mouth is and am supporting this awesome show on Patreon!
I should after listening pretty much since it began and now I can even more proudly share Sickboy Podcast with everyone I can.

Please listen, reflect, discuss, share, and repeat!
